Yale Social Sciences Department

On behalf of Yale University’s Social Sciences Department, Giordano has served as Construction Manager of two significant projects.

The LEED Silver Certified new construction of Rosenkranz Hall, a 70,000 sf, four-story, steel structure with limestone and curtainwall façade constructed on a constrained, active campus site was designed by the architectural firm Koetter Kim and Associates. The building houses faculty and staff members from the Political Science Department and the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, thus helping to consolidate programs that were formerly spread across several buildings. The Jackson Institute of Global Affairs occupies the first two floors of the building’s Prospect Street wing. In addition to offices, the structure includes classrooms, student workspaces and breakout rooms. Rosenkranz  Hall is carefully designed to fit into its surrounding environment. A skylight and a north-facing glass atrium allows natural light into the space, and two bridges connect it to the adjacent Luce Hall. 77 Prospect Street is the University’s Institute for Social and Policy Studies. The original historic building underwent major renovations which included a new 7,400 sf addition to provide meeting space, seminar rooms, lecture halls and several faculty offices. Additionally, the new building served to connect the previously distinct buildings at 77 Prospect Street and 89 Trumbull Street making a more cohesive facility.
